Food writing is an increasingly valuable form of nonfiction in today’s world. From food blogs to nostalgic essays, food writing evokes the essential elements of community that mark positive human interaction. And they go even further in terms of practicality. Those little stories at the beginning of online recipes serve not only to pull in readers who might like to try the recipe—they give recipe’s owner a pathway to copyright.
This workshop will introduce participants to food writing that involves all five senses and appeals to a wide array of audience palates. You will write and workshop a short essay connecting food to memory, and look at pathways to publishing your essay, either as part of an online recipe or as a personal essay.
This Workshop is operating on a sliding scale. You may purchase the class at a rate you feel financially comfortable with, up to the maximum class cost of $50. All students will receive the same instruction regardless of payment.
Use the checkout process as-is to pay the full $50 for the course. To adjust the price during checkout, please enter the desired price in the promo code box, between $10 and $40, using the format FOOD##. For example, to pay $30, enter FOOD30 into the promo code box. Please reach out to us if you need assistance.
