About the Instructor

Lorena Alvarez was born in Mexico and raised between Mexico City and Milwaukee. She has lived and worked in Brazil, Mexico, and the United States. Lorena holds a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design with a Minor in Illustration from Universidad Anáhuac, and a Master of Fine Arts in Computer Art with a concentration in Motion Graphics from the Savannah College of Art and Design. After years of working in graphic design and freelancing while raising her family, she transitioned to painting and recently completed an MFA in Painting with a Minor in Printmaking, supported by a graduate assistantship. In 2025, she was recognized as an award winner in the Erie Art Museum’s annual Spring Show Exhibition.

FAQs

What food and beverage is provided?

The Museum will provide one red and one white wine (1 bottle each per 1-4 guests), hot tea, and sparkling water accompanied by a charcuterie and vegetable board. If dessert is selected, chocolate chip cookies will also be included. Napkins, plates, cups, and utensils are provided.


Does the group get to keep the remaining food and beverage?

You are permitted to take any food, but no alcohol. We will not provide any take-home containers, but you are welcome to bring some along in the event that you would like to dish out the goods and distribute them!


Can I customize what the Museum provides?

Customizable options are not available, though you are welcome to select the Bring Your Own option and bring what you would like, with the exception of alcohol.


What if we don’t want alcohol?

Non alcoholic beverages available include hot tea and sparkling water.


Can we customize the craft or painting subject matter?

Customizable crafts or subject matter are not available.


What happens if I book for 12 people and only 8 people are able to attend?

We do not offer refunds for individuals that are not able to attend. It is on the individuals or organizations to ensure that all members of their reservation are able to attend.


What if I book for 12 people but 20 attend?

Please notify us as soon as possible. Your group or organization will be billed for any additional attendees beyond the number originally booked. If Museum personnel are not informed in a timely manner of reservation changes, and food and beverage arrangements have already been made (typically a week in advance), the Museum cannot be held responsible for any shortages or discrepancies in food and beverage.

Cancellations & Refund Policy

  • Cancel at least two weeks before the workshop/class to receive a refund, minus 15% for processing and administrative fees.

  • Cancel less than one week before the workshop/class: 50% refund is issued.

  • Cancel less than 48 hours: No credit or refund issued.
