Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and Erie Art Museum Announce New Partnership

Erie, PA – Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) and the Erie Art Museum have begun a partnership to extend memberships to all LECOM students, staff, and faculty. The partnership aims to provide access to the Museum for LECOM as well as training for their students. A press briefing announcing the partnership will take place at the Erie Art Museum on Friday, June 27th at 3 pm.

“Art and creativity are increasingly recognized as viable ways to combat stress, loneliness, anxiety, depression, and more,” said Laura Domencic, Executive Director of the Erie Art Museum. “This partnership with LECOM will provide their students with an opportunity to learn about the therapeutic opportunities in art.” On top of free admission, the Erie Art Museum will provide a Visual Thinking Strategies program. The partnership will begin in May 2025 and extend through June 2026.

“Art in medical training can enhance observational skills and critical thinking, LECOM’s Dr. Silvia Ferretti, Provost, Senior Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs, said. “It can assist a student in developing a holistic understanding of their future patients and their experiences.”
