Class Description
Learn basic rhythmic notation, composition, ensemble playing, solo and collective music-making, music appreciation, leadership/following in music, and more. Experience the joy, euphoria, and health benefits of hand drumming, including improved heart rate and mood.

This class will meet on Wednesdays May 6th through June 10th, from 6:00 — 8:00 pm.
Materials Required
Bring your own hand drum (not drum kit).
Limited drums available for use.

About the Instructor - Mikel Prester
Mikel Prester is a dedicated musician with 47 years of experience. He attended the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts (1990) and earned a music degree from the University of the Arts, Philadelphia College of Performing Arts, School of Music. Performing professionally since age 12, Mikel has collaborated with artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Greg Osby, Will Brock, Ian Hendrickson-Smith, Ari Hoenig, and George Russell Jr. He leads several bands including Mikel Prester Jazz Jaunt, Sound and Fire, and Workin' On It, while maintaining a robust teaching and pedagogy practice. Mikel is passionate about sharing the transformative power of music with the community.
