Experience Art with Nine-Patch Quilts!

$50.00
sold out

Workshop Description

Join us for a special workshop designed for persons living with dementia and their care partners to create together a quilt-block pattern from hand-colored textured papers. This engaging art experience encourages moments of discovery as participants hand-color textures hidden in blind-debossed paper squares. Individual squares will be combined into a finished Nine-Patch quilt-block design--and no sewing is required!

The workshop includes storytelling and reminiscence too as we explore the history of these quilt patterns. Come discover the profound impact of art to foster meaningful connections and shared joy between persons living with dementia and their care partners. Visiting artist Heather M. Mikolaj has developed Experience Art! programs through her personal and professional experience of ten years working in memory care. Her artwork is currently on view in the museum as part of Pittsburgh Fiberarts Guild: Members Exhibition.
