About the Instructor Erica Whiting

Erica is a multidisciplinary artist and creative photographer focusing on non-traditional and experimental portraits. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and a Certification of Art Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.

Her mission is to help you fall in love with yourself and showcase your individuality. She uses dramatic lighting, props, movement, creative editing techniques and set design to promote positive self-image and inclusion for empowering, photoshoot experiences. No idea is too out of the box when it comes to planning your session.

Erica’s work has been exhibited in the Nicole + Harry Martin Spring Show at the Erie Art Museum and the ArmErie Show at the Bayfront Gallery in Erie, PA. Her photography work has been featured on the Unscripted Posing App, Business Insider, the New York Post, and published in Rock N Roll Bride. Erica is also an art educator, having taught for the Erie School District and Erie Art Museum.

Class Description

This four-week class invites photographers to explore experimental and nontraditional approaches to photography. Participants will learn in-camera techniques such as double exposure and flash photography, and work with props, including fabric, colored gels, and other materials, to create expressive images without Photoshop or digital editing. This class is intended for photographers with a basic to mid-level understanding of their camera. It is not suited for true beginners; students should have a working knowledge of their camera before enrolling.
