Class Description

Experimental Photography is a workshop series led by artist and photographer, Sarah MK Moody, inspired by Nicole Reinhold Martin’s Painterly Polaroids exhibition. Sarah will instruct participants in various photo making processes. Participants may sign up for the entire series, or for each individual class.

Price

$160 for members and $220 for non-members for the full 6 week course.

Individual classes can be taken for $30 for members or $40 for non-members.

Saturdays, January 20th through February 24th, 2 - 4 pm.

January 20th

Polaroid Making and Altering
This class will lead participants in taking polaroid portraits and images around the museum. Participants will then scan and enlarge their images to alter them through painting and other media in post production. Students will also explore polaroid lifts (taking the image from the polaroid and “lifting” it onto another paper). We will tour Nicole’s show for inspiration from “Painterly Polaroids”.

January 27th

Xerox/Image Transfers
Participants will explore various image making through printed photographs transferred onto other pages. Participants are encouraged to bring photographs printed on laser or printer paper, or have images available on their cell phones to be printed in class.

February 3rd

Cyanotype and Photograms
We will make photograms and cyanotypes. Participants are encouraged to bring flowers or other items that are meaningful to them to make their images. They will be guided through the current exhibitions on view.

February 10th

Lumen Printing at 1020 Collective
Participants will explore making lumens at 1020 Collective, utilizing the gallery space (and outside if there is sunlight!). We will review photography books for inspiration.

February 17th

Pinhole Cameras at 1020 Collective

Students will explore pinhole cameras at and around 1020 Collective. Images will then be developed and printed in the darkroom.

February 24th

Zine Making at 1020 Collective

Create a photo collage zine using tools at 1020.
