Kanga Wrap Garments from East Africa A Postcard Book
This 20-page, full color postcard book was published in conjunction with the Erie Art Museum\'s exhibition Kanga & Kitenge: Cloth and Culture in East Africa on view from Sept. 27, 2008 through April 5, 2009. The artworks in this publication depict the wrap garment known as kanga which sport bold patterns in bright colors and an inscription in Swahili. These cloths are stunning in their profusion of patterns and depict subjects as diverse as political figures, architecture, food, animals and transportation. Kanga are typically sold in pairs; each kanga is approximately 3.5 by 5.5. feet. Designed by Andrea Krivak for the Erie Art Museum. Saddle stitched, $9.95 + tax. |
