A public reception will be held during Gallery Night, Friday, June 11, 2010 from 7–10p.m.
This year’s Spring Show provides viewers a wide variety of visual opportunities. Of the 539 works submitted by 256 artists, Juror Roger Shimomura chose 79 diverse pieces from 71 artists. Shimomura addressed this, stating that while some jurors may favor certain types of work, he tries to be democratic and pick the best of different approaches.
Juror Roger Shimomura’s paintings, prints and theatre pieces address sociopolitical issues of Asian American communities. His works have been shown in over 125 solo exhibitions. He is University Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of Kansas.
