David Seitzinger, creator of the sculpture prototypes for the LeapFrog! and Go Fish! Erie public art projects is back, with an installation of flying frogs that will fascinate and surprise. The exhibition chronicles the genesis of his LeapFrog! model design through drawings and photographs.

Seitzinger has transformed the gallery into a magical environment of flying frogs. His own copper-encased kinetic leapfrog Copper Hopper Chopper has been dismounted from its Dobbins Landing home to “fly” into the gallery for this exhibition. Also soaring through the gallery is a new series of unique mini-frogs made especially for this show, combining unlikely materials, such as antique fans and drink mixers, wood, metal, and ceramics.

Preliminary sketches through which the form of the frog was developed, as well as drawings for the copper helicopter are shown. David has collaborated with his son, David N. Seitzinger, who will also contribute to the show, including documentary photographs of the evolution of the LeapFrog!

A graduate in industrial design from the Columbus College of Art and Design, Seitzinger was a toy designer for Marx Toy Company. Seitzinger received first place in the Boston Mills show for a collaborative “flying machine” he created with John Vahanian that was also featured in the Paris Air Show. He has exhibited widely, including a recent solo show in Bethesda, Maryland, in Northwestern PA Artists Association shows and many others nationally and abroad.
