Artist and writer John Edwards exhibits a collection of new, large-scale
photographs. Edwards has exhibited his figurative sculptures widely;
this will be his first exhibition solely of photographs. In all facets
of his artwork, Edwards explores the relation between figure and landscape,
as well as the opposition between figurative and abstracted subjects.
Edwards seeks to relate the figure to the landscape, creating one unit
which balances these two elements, thus literally blurring the line between
subject and ground.
Edwards has served as a visiting artist for Meadville’s Challenge
Center as well as the Cochranton School System. He taught sculpture classes
at the Villa Center for many years. Also an accomplished writer, Edwards
is a contributing arts reviewer for Showcase and has written catalogue
essays for the Erie Art Museum.
