Edinboro artist John Bavaro exhibits a selection
of new paintings depicting still-life objects situated so that within
the picture plane, they lose
gravity. Local fish, fruit, cloth, and even Yoda take residence in Bavaro’s
levitating still lives. Rendering with a trompe l’oeil style attention
to detail, Bavaro creates swirling, dreamlike environments sure to entrance
and entice the viewer.
Currently an instructor of painting and drawing at Edinboro University,
Bavaro received his Bachelor of Arts from Miami University of Ohio and
his Master of Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati. Prior to his
appointment at Edinboro, Bavaro has served as a Curatorial Assistant,
a Thai translator, and an English teacher in Thailand. He has served
as a visiting artist for several different colleges and universities.
A reception will be held Friday, July 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. |
