Wood songs by Richard brown

November 14, 2003 from 6-8 pm

Erie native Richard Brown displays his new wood turnings and free-form assemblages in the Frame Shop Gallery beginning October 21. Brown has been working in wood for the past thirty years; he owns and operates his own business, Universal Woodworks. Brown remarks that he has felt the creative impulse his entire life, manifesting itself in different ways: his business, his artwork, and his music. An accomplished guitarist, Brown has played with several different bands, noting that music has given him a social artistic outlet, while the fine arts have offered solitary expression.

As a young man, Brown studied under local great Joseph Plavcan. He later studied at the Columbus College of Art and Design, and upon returning to Erie, he was befriended and mentored by local artist Andy Sanders.

An artist’s reception will be held on November 14, from 6-8 p.m.
