Katzwinkel's Peerless Ornaments

December 7, 2002 - February 24, 2003

Artist Henry Katzwinkel exhibits a selection of his jewelry including silver and gold pendants, earrings, rings and pins. A long-time professor at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, Katzwinkel retired in 1991 after a 32-year teaching career and later created his own business, also called Katzwinkel’s Peerless Ornaments.

Katzwinkel draws inspiration for forms in his work from his extensive travels. He strives to create pieces that have gentle, personal forms, as opposed to strong, irresistible jewels. He has exhibited at Butler Institute of American Art, Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art, Allegheny College, Edinboro University, and numerous exhibits organized by the Northwestern Pennsylvania Artists Association (NPAA). Katzwinkel has also designed the ceremonial mace and the Presidential Medallion for Edinboro University.

Katzwinkel completed his undergraduate education at Edinboro State Teachers College and his Masters in Art Education Pennsylvania State University. He later earned additional graduate credits from SUNY Buffalo and the Cleveland Institute of Art. He has been a member of several professional organizations throughout his career, including the Society of North American Goldsmiths, NPAA, the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Retired Faculty, and many more. He has spoken publicly on art and jewelry making as well as his travel experiences for many different events and organizations. Katzwinkel has visited all 50 states, 8 Canadian provinces, 23 European countries, 3 Asian countries, 4 countries in the South Pacific, and 5 in South America.
