Simple
Gifts by Peggy Brace
October 29, 2002 - January 10, 2003
A selection of paintings by Erie artist and teacher Peggy
Brace was on exhibit in the Frame Shop Gallery through January 3.
In Simple Gifts Brace exhibited a selection of her
paintings concentrating on beauty, faith in oneself, and simplicity.
Reflective in her approach, Brace uses her art to ground her life, stating
that painting is "a vantage point from which to see patterns and
progress."
Ranging from highly realistic to surreal, Braces
work has appeared in several juried exhibitions throughout the area and
won many awards, including the Juror's Choice Award at the National Midyear
Exhibition at the Butler Institute of American Art in 2000.
Brace received her Bachelor of Arts in art from Mercyhurst
and her Master of Fine Arts in painting with a minor in drawing from
Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She has taught a number of art classes
for young people and adults at the Villa Maria Center for the Arts, the
Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit, the Meadville Council on the
Arts and other locations in the area. She has recently taken a position
as instructor at Jamestown Community College. |
