Cradle to Cradle:
Wood turned sculptures by Michael Brolly

December 8, 2001 - January 27, 2002

Michael Brolly, Baron Von Baseball

One of the most innovative artists working in wood-turning today, Michael Brolly was the subject of a 20-year retrospective of his works in Cradle to Cradle, in the Erie Art Museum ground floor galleries. Intrigued by what he calls "fragmental turnings" and multi-axis work, Brolly demonstrates remarkable technical skill using the lathe to produce creations very unlike normal wood-turnings. Brolly received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kutztown University in 1981. Since then he has exhibited in numerous one-man and group exhibitions, and has received numerous awards, including first place in the American Woodworkers show at Fort Washington, Pennsylvania in 1999.
