Recent Paintings by Terry Rodgers

October 27 - December 17, 2000

An extraordinary solo exhibition by portrait painter, illustrator, and muralist master Terry Rodgers opened in the main gallery on October 27. The exhibit showcased the large-scale realistic portraits and social scenes that Rodgers paints with a depth that goes beyond mere illustration into a psychological report of various personalities and ways of life. Exposing the upper class American lifestyle in his paintings, Rodgers captures subtle expressions and interactions, revealing the unspoken attitudes of his subjects.

The Columbus Dispatch best describes his work. "Terry Rodgers is an excellent figurative artist. The human figure fascinates him. He uses it as a complex vehicle for intriguing social commentary as well as for thoughtful studies of individuals."

Rodgers has a BA from Amherst College and has work in many public, corporate and private collections including the Smithsonian Institution, the U.S. House of Representatives Office Building and others throughout the United States and England.
