Traveling Light:
Photographs by Anna Tomczak

The unique images of artist Anna Tomczak were on view in the Museum’s ground floor gallery through October 10, 1999. Her photographs are detailed assemblages of people, flowers, bubbles, winged insects, writings, and numerous other objects collected during her travels. The objects, whether found in museums or in dumpsters, represent a visual language of treasures which Tomczak states is “a combination of impressions and symbols, objects that were once prized by lives now passed.”

Tomczak’s photographs include meticulously prepared Polacolor image transfers on watercolor paper, high resolution digital images printed on Arches paper, and hand painted silver prints. An Erie native who now lives in Florida, Tomczak has received numerous fellowships and grants from the State of Florida, Polaroid Corporation, and Atlantic Center for the Arts, among others.
