Workshops
The Museum hosts workshops with professional artists throughout the year. Whenever the Museum hosts a performance of music, theater, or dance, those performers typically spend several days before their show working with a variety of school tours, community groups, local educators, and the general public. Workshops usually focus on a theme that also relates to a current exhibit, creating a multisensory and interdisciplinary experience for the participants.
Teco, Thangka, Trompe L'oeil: Teacher Week at the Erie Art Museum
The Erie Art Museum is in the midst of an exciting construction project that will triple the current gallery space, allowing the Museum to exhibit the best of its permanent collection. To this end the Erie Art Museum will offer an intensive weeklong in-service for teachers July 13 - 17. From 9:30 - 3:00 each day participants will learn about the 6300+ piece collection - Teco Art Pottery, ancient Tibetan prayer scrolls called Thangkas, and Photo-Realist paintings - just to name a few, and act as part of the Museum team to help select what will go on public view. Each teacher will earn 25 Act 48 hours. Cost is $100, ($65 for members). Teachers can also take a summer class at the Museum to gain Act 48 hours, or call 814-459-5477.
