Kids As Curators - 2008

Students at Corry’s Columbus Elementary School focused on a sports theme, creating amazing sculptures of people made from sporting goods.

Perseus House Maritime Charter school students created an exhibit that showcases the school’s hands-on approach and involvement with fishing and boating, creating a lighthouse, a boat full of passengers and a multi-media presentation.

Roosevelt Middle School students created a thought-provoking exhibit around war, including objects on loan from veterans and present-day soldiers, a calendar listing the casualties from the Iraq War, student generated interviews, and poetry.

  • My first impression was wow.  It was so amazing and different from anything I ever seen.
  • I loved the exhibit and all the creativity.  It really amazed me seeing all the work students put in here.
  • My school’s exhibit was the first thing I saw and it was like the sun in the center of the universe.
  • I think it looks pretty good.  There was nothing I didn't like.  If I was an art collector I would pay a lot of money to have the artwork in my home.
  • That every school’s stuff comes right at you.
  • I think that my school's exhibit looks great.  It looks better than I expected.  I'm glad to know that it's the first thing people see.
